Vapor Funk at the Thirsty Ear June 26th

Our first non-radio dj set went really well. There were no major technical issues and lots of people showed up. Which was awesome! So, we're doing it again. If you can make it this Friday (6/26) we will be playing drum and bass (and possibly other styles of electronic music) from 11pm-1am (last time we actually started earlier and went later). Non-MIT affiliated people (age 21+) are definitely welcome at The Thirsty Ear even tho its in a graduate dorm. Check out the Facebook event page and Vapor Funk group page for more info. Or, send us an email at vaporfunk@gmail.com

Vapor Funk 6/11/09

This one is barely going up before the next show. Still getting used to the new time slot, but we had fun with this show. I was missing some friends and family last week so I started out with some of the more sentimental drum and bass tracks that I know. However, things quickly turned to a darker mood towards the end of my set as I played a few of my favorite Upbeats tracks. I took the set in this direction because one of the members of The Upbeats was spinning at Elements, probably as we were starting our show. Rhythmic continued the trend with a sick set of tracks by the Upbeats and other similarly vicious producers.

Tracklist:
  1. Matrix, Futurebound - Family feat. Robert Owens - Original Mix
  2. Matrix vs Futurebound - Family (Nu Tone and Logistics
  3. Lenzman - Ever So Slightly
  4. Redeyes - Luv & Haight (Matrix Remix)
  5. Mistabishi feat Danman - Falling In Love
  6. Apex - Falling
  7. The Upbeats feat Teknik - Poison
  8. The Upbeats - Lick-A-Demon
  9. The Upbeats - Red Lobster (Feat. Jess Chambers) (Remix)
  10. Bad Company UK - Bullet Time (The Upbeats Remix)
  11. The Upbeats - Shalimar
  12. The Upbeats - Poopoochaloop
  13. Black Sun Empire and Concord Dawn - Crime Side
  14. Spor - Resolute
  15. Rawthang - Epiloque feat. Kari
  16. Skynet - Hydroflash
  17. The Upbeats - Neanderthal
  18. Calyx & Teebee - Make Your Choice
  19. Misanthrop - Moon Clouds
  20. Black Sun Empire & Concord Dawn - The Sun
  21. Calyx & Teebee - Warrior

Another show that we neglected to post to the blog. This was the first show in the new summer time slot. It was also the first show that we had done together in a while. 2. Commix - Bear Music
  3. Instra:mental - Hunter
  4. Breakage - Clarendon
  5. Mutt - Over

  10. Blame - Stay Forever
  11. Brookes Brothers And Furlonge - Drifter

  15. Redeyes - Cruise Ship To The Stars (Chris.SU Remix)
  16. Fresh - Signal - Original Mix

Upbeats for Everyone

Jeremy Glenn from the The Upbeats is spinning at Elements tonight. One of our favorite drum and bass production crews, The Upbeats are known for throwing down vicious beats with huge drops while amazingly still maintaining a sense of melody. "New Zealand's Finest" as Rhythmic likes to call them. I highly recommend checking them out at The Phoenix Landing in Central Square, Cambridge tonight. However, if you for some reason can't stop by Phoenix tonight (like, if you don't live in Massachusetts for example), never fear! for you can listen to Vapor Funk from anywhere in the world. And, we're planning on playing a bunch of Upbeats tonight. To listen to the show streaming live, just go to http://wmbr.org/ at midnight tonight Eastern Time. Of course, if you want to maximize your Upbeats intake this evening, you can do like us and run up to Phoenix to catch the last hour of Elements after Vapor Funk :)
